Have you ever seen the movie 5 Feet Apart? It is a touching story about two teens with Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease with no cure. It is a rare disease that affects 1 in around 2,500 to 3,500 newborns. If you want to learn more watch this video about CF.
My team and I worked for about a week and half researching and studying Cystic Fibrosis. I am very proud of this project and how it came out in the end. Although we had a different vision of how we wanted to do the video in the beginning, I’m very happy that we chose this route. Our video follows a story of a teenage girl and her mom doing a consultation with a doctor about her diagnosis of CF.
If there were a couple things that we would add or revise in the video it would be to add the fact that CF is not only recessive but it is autosomal recessive. Meaning that the CFTR mutation is located on one of the numbered chromosomes (in this case, Chromosome 7), not one of the sex-linked chromosomes. Another fact we would add in the video is how doctors diagnose and test Cystic Fibrosis. We mentioned in the video about a sweat test. This sweat test is only the indicator, but doctors will conduct a DNA test on the parents and the patient to confirm the diagnosis.
My overall experience with my team was awesome. They were both very hardworking and helpful. We all had a good flow in the team, and solved any problems that came up together instead of just letting one person handle all of it.
